Wolverhampton Wanderers’ relegation from the Premier League was officially confirmed on Monday following West Ham United’s goalless draw against Crystal Palace.
The result leaves Wolves 16 points adrift of fourth-bottom West Ham with just five matches remaining, making it mathematically impossible for the Midlands club to retain their top-flight status.
It marks a disappointing end to an eight-year stay in the Premier League for Wolves, who have struggled throughout the campaign.
Currently rooted to the bottom of the table, the team has managed only three wins from 33 league matches.
Under the guidance of Rob Edwards, who took charge in November, Wolves failed to mount any meaningful escape from the relegation zone.
Despite securing notable victories against Aston Villa and Liverpool in recent weeks, their overall form has been inconsistent.
Wolves had long appeared destined for relegation, with their struggles across both ends of the pitch proving costly. Attention will now shift to rebuilding ahead of life in the Championship next season.
