It was a weekend of draws in the Premier League on Saturday, with Chelsea, Liverpool and Bournemouth all held at home by Hull City, Fulham and Brentford respectively, while Nottingham Forest secured an important away victory over Aston Villa.
Chelsea were forced to settle for a 2-2 draw against newly promoted Hull City at Stamford Bridge. Morgan Rogers gave the Blues an early lead before Mohamed Belloumi struck twice to put the visitors ahead. João Pedro eventually rescued a point for Chelsea with a second-half equaliser.
At Anfield, Liverpool were held to a frustrating goalless draw by Fulham. The result handed the visitors their first Premier League point of the season, while Liverpool continued to struggle for a home league victory.
Bournemouth also dropped points at home after playing out a 2-2 draw with Brentford. Kevin Schade scored twice for Brentford, while the Cherries were unable to hold on to their lead after Marcus Tavernier had restored their advantage in the second half.
Nottingham Forest provided one of the day’s standout results, beating Aston Villa 2-1 at Villa Park. Liam Delap opened the scoring before Alysson levelled for the hosts, but Igor Jesus restored Forest’s lead to secure Oliver Glasner’s side their first Premier League win of the season.
There was another major surprise at Selhurst Park, where Ipswich Town defeated Crystal Palace 3-2. The visitors claimed all three points through Zian Flemming’s late winner after Palace had been reduced to 10 men following Axel Disasi’s dismissal.
Tottenham Hotspur were also held to a goalless draw by Everton in Saturday’s evening fixture, leaving Spurs still searching for their first league victory of the season.
With several of the weekend’s matches producing unexpected results, the Premier League continues to provide plenty of drama early in the 2026/27 campaign.
