Manchester City boosted their Premier League title ambitions with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, reopening the race for the crown.

Norwegian striker Erling Haaland once again proved decisive, netting the winner to secure maximum points for the reigning champions.

City took the lead in the 16th minute through French attacker Rayan Cherki, who finished calmly to give the hosts an early advantage.

However, Arsenal responded almost immediately as Kai Havertz capitalised on a costly error by goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma to level the score just two minutes later.

The second half saw both sides push for a decisive goal, but it was City who found the breakthrough. Haaland struck in the 65th minute, finishing off a well-worked move to restore the home side’s lead.

Despite late pressure from Arsenal, City held firm to claim all three points in a crucial encounter.

The result leaves Arsenal top of the table with 70 points, while Manchester City move into second place on 67 points, with a game in hand, tightening the race for the Premier League title.
