Nigeria’s senior men’s basketball team, D’Tigers, produced a thrilling late comeback to defeat Guinea 80-79 and record their second consecutive victory in the FIBA Basketball World Cup African Qualifiers.
The Nigerian side showed remarkable resilience after trailing for large parts of the contest, snatching victory from the jaws of defeat in a dramatic finish.
Caleb Agada led the charge for D’Tigers with 22 points, while Uche Iroegbu contributed 14 points. Kaodirichi Akobundu-Ehiogu also played a key role, adding 10 points to help Nigeria complete the comeback.
The win means D’Tigers have now recorded two wins from two games in the qualifiers, boosting their hopes of securing a place at the next FIBA Basketball World Cup.
Nigeria will now turn attention to their next fixture against Rwanda.
