The President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Patrice Motsepe, has disclosed the purpose behind his recent visit to Senegal.

Motsepe arrived in Senegal on Tuesday amid the tensions surrounding the final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, which has generated widespread debate across the continent.

Speaking during his visit, the CAF boss explained that his trip is aimed at strengthening ties with the Senegalese football authorities and reaffirming his commitment to the growth of the game in Africa.

“The main reason for my presence here is to express my commitment to the Senegalese Football Federation and the African community, with the aim of contributing to the development of sport on our continent,” Motsepe said.

He further revealed plans to engage directly with the Senegalese Football Federation during his stay, before proceeding to Morocco for additional meetings with key stakeholders in Moroccan football.

Motsepe emphasized that his message across the continent remains centered on unity and collective progress.

“The message I will convey will be one of love, unity, and commitment. We are all called upon to work together to advance African football,” he added.

The South African football administrator also highlighted the importance of proper preparation ahead of upcoming competitions, noting that improved organization and collaboration will help African teams achieve better results on the global stage.
