German Bundesliga club Union Berlin have made history by appointing Marie-Louise Eta as head coach of their men’s senior team until the end of the season.
The decision follows the dismissal of Steffen Baumgart after the club’s defeat to 1. FC Heidenheim in their latest league outing.
Eta’s appointment marks a landmark moment in German football, as she becomes the first woman to take charge of a men’s team in the history of the Bundesliga.
Union Berlin confirmed that Eta will oversee the team on an interim basis until June, as the club looks to stabilize results in the closing stages of the campaign.
