German Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen have confirmed the extension of Nigerian midfielder Nathan Tella’s contract, securing his future at the club for the long term.

The club announced that the Super Eagles star has signed a new five-year deal that will keep him at the BayArena until June 30, 2031. His previous contract was initially set to expire in the summer of 2028.

Tella, 26, joined Leverkusen in 2023 from English side Southampton FC and has since developed into a key member of the squad due to his versatility and work rate.

Capable of operating on either wing or as a second striker, the Nigerian international has provided valuable depth in attack, contributing both goals and assists while fitting seamlessly into the team’s dynamic style of play.

The contract extension underlines Leverkusen’s confidence in Tella’s abilities and their commitment to maintaining a strong core as they continue to compete domestically and in Europe.
