Nigeria’s world record holder in the women’s 100m hurdles, , has dropped to third in the latest global rankings despite improving her points tally.
Amusan moved from 1379 to 1385 ranking points following impressive performances at the recent Diamond League meetings in Shanghai and Xiamen, where she clocked times of 12.41 seconds and 12.28 seconds respectively.
However, reigning Olympic champion surged to the top of the rankings after back-to-back victories at both Diamond League events.
The American star, who turns 26 next month, recorded outstanding times of 12.25 seconds and 12.14 seconds to increase her ranking score to 1391 points.
Just over a week ago, Russell occupied fourth place in the rankings, but her recent performances saw her leapfrog compatriot , who now sits second with 1386 points.
Amusan remains firmly among the leading contenders in the women’s 100m hurdles as the season continues.
