Super Eagles striker Akor Adams delivered an impressive performance as Sevilla FC secured a hard-fought 2-1 win against Atletico Madrid in Saturday’s La Liga encounter.
The Nigerian forward, making his 25th appearance of the season, continued his fine form by netting his seventh goal and providing his third assist contribution of the campaign.
Adams handed the hosts an early advantage in the 10th minute, calmly converting from the penalty spot to ignite celebrations among the home fans.
He remained influential throughout the contest before being substituted in stoppage time for Batista Mendy.
Atletico Madrid responded in the 38th minute when Bonar restored parity with a well-taken low drive.
However, Sevilla regained the lead just before the break, as Nemanja Gudelj found the back of the net in first-half stoppage time.
Despite sustained pressure from Atletico Madrid after the interval, Sevilla held firm defensively to claim maximum points and boost their position in the league standings.
