Taiwo Mati’s singles run at the 2025 WTT Contender Tunis came to an early end following a straight-sets loss to India’s Snehit Suravajjula at the Salle Omnisport de Rades.

The Nigerian was outplayed 3–0 (11–6, 11–7, 11–5) in his second and final Group 10 match, as Suravajjula dominated from the outset and maintained control throughout.

Having lost 3–1 to Malta’s Kim Taehyun in his opening match on Tuesday, Mati needed a win to keep his hopes of advancing alive. However, world No. 97 Suravajjula proved too strong, winning 33 points to Mati’s 18, and asserting himself on both serve and return. The Indian tallied 18 points on his own serve and 15 on return, while Mati managed only 10 and eight, respectively.

Suravajjula led by as many as six points during the match, whereas Mati’s biggest lead was just three, underlining the one-sided nature of the contest.

With two defeats, Mati exits the singles event winless, but he shifts focus to the men’s doubles competition. He’ll team up with Kim Taehyun for the qualifying rounds, where the duo have received a first-round bye.

The WTT Contender Tunis tournament continues, offering $100,000 in prize money and valuable world ranking points across both singles and doubles events.
