Nigeria’s table tennis star Aruna Quadri suffered a heavy defeat in his second match at the ITTF World Cup in Macao, impacting his global ranking.
Quadri began the tournament on a strong note, securing a 3-1 victory over Benin Republic’s Abdel Kader Salifou.
However, his momentum was halted on Wednesday when he faced Sweden’s Anton Kallberg and lost in straight sets, 4-0.
Later that day, the International Table Tennis Federation released its updated rankings, with Quadri dropping one spot from 20th to 21st. He now trails Egypt’s Omar Assar, who occupies the 20th position with 1290 points.
