Nigeria’s Falconets suffered a 2-0 defeat to European champions Spain in their opening match of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.
Spain made their chances count, scoring once in each half to secure all three points.
Marisa García opened the scoring for the European champions before substitute Alba Cerrato added a second goal after the break.
The Falconets were unable to find a response as Spain held on to begin their campaign with a victory.
Nigeria will now turn their attention to their next group-stage fixture as they seek to bounce back from the opening-day setback.
