Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has been ruled out of Nigeria’s upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau after sustaining a groin injury.
Galatasaray confirmed on Monday that Osimhen suffered moderate-to-advanced bleeding and a strain in the muscle group of his right groin.
The Turkish champions added that the Nigerian forward is expected to be sidelined for approximately three weeks.
The injury is a major setback for Nigeria as the Super Eagles prepare for their AFCON qualifying fixtures against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau.
Osimhen has been an important figure in Nigeria’s attack, and his absence will leave the national team without one of its key attacking options for the qualifiers.
The striker will now focus on his recovery as Galatasaray monitor his progress ahead of his return to competitive action.
