Super Eagles forward Taiwo Awoniyi opened his goalscoring account for Coventry City as they secured a 4-2 victory over Plymouth Argyle in the EFL Cup on Tuesday evening.

Awoniyi gave Coventry City the perfect start by scoring the opening goal in the early stages of the encounter.

Jack Rudoni then doubled Coventry’s advantage before Plymouth Argyle pulled one back through Oliver Irow midway through the first half.

Amaechi completed Plymouth’s comeback in the 54th minute, bringing the score level at 2-2.

Coventry, however, regained control of the contest as Mason restored their lead before Victor Torp added a fourth goal to seal a 4-2 victory.
