Nigeria have reached the final of the FIBA U18 Women’s Afrobasket after defeating Côte d’Ivoire 53-50 in a closely contested semi-final on Friday night.
The victory booked the Junior D’Tigress a place in the championship game, where they will face Mali in a repeat of the previous final.
Nigeria will be aiming to win their first-ever U18 Women’s Afrobasket title, while Mali will be targeting a record ninth championship.
Mali, the defending champions, are also seeking to make it three consecutive titles, adding further significance to Sunday’s final.
With both teams meeting again in the final, Nigeria will have the opportunity to rewrite the script and claim their maiden continental crown, while Mali will be looking to maintain their dominance in the competition.
