Swedish club BK Häcken have completed the signing of Nigerian international striker Joy Omewa on a long-term contract running until the end of the 2029 season.

The 23-year-old arrives from English side Nottingham Forest, adding valuable international experience to BK Häcken’s attacking options ahead of the new season.

Speaking after completing the move, Omewa expressed her excitement about the new chapter in her career.
“I want to contribute with joy – ‘Joy’ – just like my name,” she said.

Omewa began her professional journey after leaving Nigeria at the age of 17. She first featured for Confluence Queens before moving to Denmark, where she joined B93.

After spending a year with B93, she secured a move to Danish giants Fortuna Hjørring, where she enjoyed a successful four-and-a-half-year spell. She later moved to England to join Nottingham Forest before sealing her transfer to the Swedish outfit.

BK Häcken will be hoping the Nigerian forward’s experience at both club and international level will strengthen their squad as they compete in domestic and European competitions.
