France booked their place in the semi-finals of the FIFA World Cup after a 2-0 victory over Morocco, with Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele scoring second-half goals to end the Atlas Lions’ impressive campaign.
France controlled much of the first half and had an opportunity to take the lead from the penalty spot after Noussair Mazraoui brought down Mbappe inside the area. However, Morocco goalkeeper Yassine Bounou produced a fine save to deny the Real Madrid forward.
Mbappe eventually broke the deadlock in the 59th minute, finishing clinically to hand France a deserved lead.
Dembele doubled the advantage six minutes later, finding the back of the net in the 65th minute to put the result beyond Morocco.
The victory sends France into the World Cup semi-finals, while Morocco’s memorable run in the tournament comes to an end with their quarter-final exit.
