FIFA has appointed nine match officials from Africa for the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, scheduled to take place in Morocco from October 17 to November 7.
The world football governing body selected three central referees and six assistant referees from across the continent to officiate at the tournament.
The three African referees chosen are Josphine Wanjiku of Kenya, Ghada Mehat of Algeria, and Shahenda Saad of Egypt.
The six assistant referees are Asma Ouahab (Algeria), Sakina Hamidou Alfa (Niger), Nancy Kasitu (Zambia), Tabara Mbodji (Senegal), Queency Victoire (Mauritius), and Houda Afine (Tunisia).
Their appointments underline FIFA’s confidence in the quality of African match officials ahead of the global youth tournament, which will bring together the world’s best U-17 women’s national teams in Morocco.
