The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is expected to conduct the draws for the first and second preliminary rounds of the 2026/27 CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup in the first week of August.

According to reports, CAF is finalising arrangements for the draw ceremony and is expected to announce the official date, venue, and other details in the coming weeks.

The preliminary round draws will determine the opening fixtures for clubs participating in Africa’s two premier interclub competitions as they begin their quest for continental glory.

However, the final list of participating teams has not yet been confirmed, with several domestic league campaigns and FA Cup competitions across the continent still ongoing.

The completion of those competitions will determine the remaining clubs that will represent their respective countries in both tournaments.

CAF recently extended the club licensing application deadline, giving participating clubs additional time to complete the necessary documentation required for continental competition eligibility.
