Nigeria’s Ezekiel Nathaniel made an impressive start to his 2026 outdoor season by claiming victory in the men’s 400m hurdles at the Lone Star Grand Prix.
Nathaniel edged out American athlete Trevor Bassitt in a thrilling contest, with both runners crossing the finish line in an identical time of 47.37 seconds.
However, after a photo finish review, the Nigerian was adjudged the winner of the tightly contested race.
The victory marks a strong opening performance for Nathaniel, who continues to establish himself as one of Nigeria’s leading track athletes on the international stage.
His winning time of 47.37 seconds also highlights his readiness for the major championships later in the season as he aims to build momentum with successive strong performances.
