Nigeria’s Super Eagles were denied victory by a stoppage-time equaliser as Poland battled back to earn a 2-2 draw in an international friendly match played in Warsaw on Wednesday.

The three-time African champions appeared set for a second consecutive victory over the European side after taking the lead through Terem Moffi before substitute Paul Onuachu restored Nigeria’s advantage later in the game.

Poland, however, refused to give up and were rewarded deep into added time when Przemyslaw Wisniewski struck a dramatic equaliser to rescue a share of the spoils for the hosts.

The result means the Super Eagles were unable to complete back-to-back wins against Poland despite producing a spirited performance for much of the encounter.

Nigeria will take positives from the match, particularly the contributions of Moffi and Onuachu in attack, while head coach and his technical crew will also look to address the defensive lapses that allowed Poland to fight back.

The friendly formed part of both nations’ preparations for upcoming competitive fixtures, with the Super Eagles continuing to build momentum ahead of future international assignments.
