Kenya on Wednesday hosted a delegation from World Athletics for an inspection visit to key sporting facilities in Nairobi as part of the country’s bid to host the 2029 World Athletics Championships.

The inspection team visited the iconic Nyayo National Stadium and Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani to assess the readiness of the venues and supporting infrastructure ahead of the selection process.

Kenya is aiming to become one of the few African nations to host the prestigious global athletics event, with the government and athletics stakeholders intensifying efforts to strengthen the country’s bid.

The visit by the World Athletics delegation is expected to play a crucial role in evaluating the country’s facilities, accommodation, transportation network, and overall capacity to successfully stage the championship.

Kenya, renowned globally for producing world-class athletes, is hopeful that hosting rights for the 2029 edition will further boost the development of athletics across the continent.
