South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns emerged champions of the 2025/26 CAF Champions League after edging Morocco’s AS FAR 2-1 on aggregate following a hard-fought 1-1 draw in the second leg final in Rabat

The Brazilians went into the decisive second leg with a slender 1-0 advantage secured in the first encounter and managed to hold their hosts to a draw to lift the prestigious continental title.

AS FAR started brightly in front of their home supporters and pushed hard in search of an early breakthrough, but Sundowns remained disciplined defensively and absorbed the pressure well.

The Moroccan side eventually found the back of the net to level matters on the night, but Sundowns responded strongly and grabbed a crucial equaliser that ultimately proved decisive in the contest.

Despite late pressure from the home side, the South African champions held firm to secure the result needed and were crowned African champions after the two-legged encounter ended 2-1 in their favour on aggregate.

The triumph marks another historic achievement for Mamelodi Sundowns, who once again underlined their status as one of the dominant forces in African club football.
