Southampton FC have been expelled from the Championship play-offs after admitting to multiple breaches involving the filming of rival clubs’ training sessions.

The decision means Middlesbrough FC will now take Southampton’s place in the play-off final against Hull City AFC on Saturday at Wembley Stadium.

According to reports, Southampton acknowledged carrying out unauthorized surveillance activities involving opposition teams during the course of the season.

The breaches are said to have violated competition integrity and conduct regulations.

Football authorities moved swiftly after investigations confirmed the incidents, leading to the club’s removal from the promotion play-offs.

Middlesbrough, who were previously eliminated, have now been reinstated and will face Hull City in the decisive clash for promotion to the Premier League.

Further disciplinary measures against Southampton are expected to be announced in the coming days.
