Coach Nora Häuptle is set to lead Zambia’s Copper Queens at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), in a surprising turnaround confirmed by Football House.

The Swiss tactician had stepped down from her role in March following a series of unresolved issues with the Football Association of Zambia.

Her resignation raised doubts about Zambia’s technical direction ahead of the continental showpiece.

However, FAZ has now announced that all outstanding matters between both parties have been amicably resolved.

This follows a series of high-level meetings involving FAZ president Keith Mweemba.

Häuptle’s return comes as a major boost for the Copper Queens as they prepare to face top contenders, including Nigeria’s Super Falcons, Egypt and Malawi at WAFCON 2026.

Zambia will be hoping that the reinstated coach can quickly stabilize the team and build on their recent progress on the African women’s football scene.
