World football governing body FIFA has announced a major increase in the Club Benefits Programme for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, raising the fund from $209 million to $355 million.
The money will be distributed among clubs that release players for the tournament, with payments based on the clubs where the players were registered during the last two years before the competition.
The significant increase is expected to provide a major financial boost for clubs across the globe, particularly those involved in developing and nurturing international players.
The expanded programme forms part of FIFA’s broader commitment to rewarding clubs for their contribution to international football and player development ahead of the historic 48-team World Cup set to be hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico in 2026.
