Nigeria’s women’s table tennis team endured a difficult start to their campaign at the ITTF World Team Championships in London, falling 3–0 to Wales in their opening group fixture.

The Nigerian side found it hard to settle into the contest against a well-drilled Welsh team, as both Ajoke Ojomu and Shukurat Aiyelabegan were defeated in straight sets in their respective matches.

Fatimo Bello offered some resistance in the third rubber, delivering a determined display that stretched her opponent to five sets. However, she eventually fell 3–2 in a tightly contested encounter, confirming victory for Wales.

The result marks a disappointing beginning for Nigeria, but the team will look to bounce back in their remaining group matches as they seek to revive their campaign.
