Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernández has issued an unreserved apology to Chelsea FC, his teammates and supporters following controversial remarks he made about the club during the recent international break.
The 23-year-old acknowledged his mistake in a statement released on Sunday, admitting that his comments fell short of the standards expected from a player of his status at the club.
“I want to sincerely apologize to the Chelsea board, my teammates, and the incredible fans of this club for my recent comments and the situation that has followed,” Fernández said.
“What I said does not reflect my full commitment to Chelsea Football Club.
I understand the disappointment and frustration it has caused, especially coming from someone in my position. Wearing this badge is a privilege I never take lightly.”
Fernández also confirmed that he has accepted disciplinary action taken by the club, including a two-match suspension handed down by head coach Liam Rosenior.
“I fully accept the club’s decision and my two-match ban. I take responsibility for my words, and I will learn from this moment.
My focus now is on working hard, earning back your trust, and giving everything on the pitch for this club,” he added.
The World Cup winner reiterated his commitment to Chelsea, insisting that his focus remains on contributing positively to the team moving forward.
“Chelsea is my present, and I remain committed to fighting for the team and the fans every single day. Thank you for your continued support.”
Fernández, who has been a key figure for the Blues since his arrival, will now look to rebuild trust within the squad and among supporters after serving his suspension.
