World record holder in the women’s 100m hurdles, Tobi Amusan, opened her 2026 season on an impressive note with a second-place finish in the women’s 200m at the Velocity Fest in Jamaica.
Better known for her dominance in the hurdles, Amusan demonstrated her sprinting range by posting a season’s best time of 23.25 seconds.
Her effort earned her the silver medal behind Jamaican sprint star Elaine Thompson-Herah, who claimed victory with a time of 22.61 seconds.
Compatriot Ackera Nugent finished third in 23.35 seconds, rounding off a highly competitive race.
