Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has admitted his disappointment at Nigeria’s failure to reach the final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, following their semi-final defeat to hosts Morocco.

The France-born tactician made the remarks during a press conference ahead of Saturday’s third-place playoff encounter against Egypt.

“To be honest with you, I’m disappointed to be here. I had great ambitions for this tournament,” Chelle said, reflecting on Nigeria’s exit from the title race.

Despite the setback, the Super Eagles boss was quick to commend his players for their overall performance at the tournament, insisting they had every reason to be proud of their efforts.

“After we lost to Morocco, I told my players to keep their heads up, as they had a great tournament. My players have told me to do the same ahead of Saturday’s game,” he added.

Nigeria will now turn their attention to the third-place match against Egypt, as Chelle looks to end the campaign on a positive note and secure a podium finish in the competition.
