Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions, Remo Stars, have bowed out of the CAF Champions League following a heavy aggregate defeat to South African giants, Mamelodi Sundowns.

After suffering a 5-1 loss in the first leg at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja, the Sky Blue Stars faced an uphill task heading into the return fixture in Pretoria.

Despite showing more composure and determination in the second leg on Sunday, Remo Stars were once again outclassed by the Brazilians, who secured a 2-0 victory courtesy of goals from Nuno Santos and Peter Shalulile.

The result means Remo Stars exited the competition with a 7-1 aggregate scoreline, ending their debut CAF Champions League campaign.

The Ikenne-based side will now shift focus to the domestic league as they look to build on the experience gained from their continental adventure.
