The iconic San Siro Stadium in Milan is set for a historic transformation, with AC Milan and Inter Milan finalizing plans to acquire the venue for €197 million.

Following the purchase, both clubs will begin preparations for the demolition of the legendary ground, paving the way for a brand-new ultra-modern stadium projected to open in 2031. The new facility will feature a seating capacity of 71,500 and will be one of the most advanced football arenas in Europe.

The ambitious project is expected to cost a staggering €1.2 billion, underlining the clubs’ vision to provide world-class infrastructure that matches their footballing pedigree.

The San Siro, officially known as Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, was inaugurated in 1926 and has hosted countless historic matches, including World Cup and Champions League finals. Its demolition in 2026 will mark exactly 100 years since it first opened, bringing an end to a century-long era in Italian football history.

While the decision has sparked nostalgia among fans who see the San Siro as a cathedral of football, both AC Milan and Inter Milan believe the new ground will ensure financial sustainability and elevate the matchday experience for generations to come.
