The head coach of Tanzania, Manuel Gomandi, has expressed confidence in his team’s readiness ahead of their opening group clash against Nigeria’s Super Eagles at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Taifa Stars will take on Nigeria on Tuesday, and speaking during the pre-match press conference, the Argentine tactician admitted the quality and threat posed by the Super Eagles but insisted his side is fully prepared for the challenge.

“We are very well prepared, we are excited to be part of this AFCON and we are more than ready for tomorrow’s game. We have a very difficult game but it’s a nice challenge for us,” Gomandi said.

The coach also stressed the need for discipline and collective effort against one of Africa’s most formidable teams.

“We need to be very careful, work in perfect situation and I’m sure my players will put in extra effort to contain the threat from Nigeria,” he added.

Nigeria, one of the tournament favourites, will be looking to start their campaign on a strong note, while Tanzania hope to frustrate the Super Eagles and make a statement in their opening fixture.
