Luca Zidane, one of the sons of football legend Zinedine Zidane, has officially switched his international allegiance from France to Algeria.
After representing France at various youth levels, the 26-year-old goalkeeper has now opted to play for the Algerian Fennecs, his father’s country of origin.
Luca, who has spent his entire professional career in Spain, came through Real Madrid’s youth system (2014–2019) before turning out for Racing Santander, Rayo Vallecano, Eibar, and, most recently, Granada, where he signed in July 2024.
On the international stage, he earned caps across France’s youth categories: three with the U16s, 14 with the U17s, six each for the U18s and U19s, and one appearance for the U20s in 2018.
Having never been called up by Didier Deschamps to join France’s senior goalkeeping ranks, Luca has decided to embrace the opportunity to represent Algeria at senior level.
