Egyptian football powerhouse Zamalek has officially terminated the contract of the former Super Eagles manager José Peseiro, the club confirmed on Wednesday.

The decision follows a disappointing 2-2 draw with National Bank in the latest round of the Nile Egyptian League — a result that added to growing dissatisfaction with the team’s recent performances.

Peseiro’s tenure saw Zamalek exit the CAF Confederation Cup at the quarter-final stage after losing to South African side Stellenbosch. In the domestic league, the team currently sits third with 40 points, trailing rivals Al Ahly by six points and league leaders Pyramids by seven. However, Zamalek have reached the Egypt Cup final, where they will meet Pyramids on June 5.

Appointed in February, Peseiro led the team in 13 matches, recording six wins, six draws, and one loss. Under his guidance, the White Knights scored 21 goals and conceded 10.
