Zamalek SC, the Egyptian Premier League club, has appointed former Nigeria national team coach, Jose Peseiro, as the new head coach, replacing Pascal Gross.
The 64-year-old Peseiro arrived in Cairo on Thursday to finalize a one-and-a-half-year contract with the club. This marks the second managerial change for Zamalek this season, after Gross replaced Portuguese coach Jose Gomes, who left the team in November for Saudi Arabia.
Peseiro will take charge immediately as Zamalek prepares for their upcoming match against Petrojet on Sunday, the 14th matchday of the Egyptian league.
Previously, Peseiro had a brief spell managing Al Ahly during the 2015-16 season before departing for a lucrative offer from Porto. Most recently, he led Nigeria to the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
