West Bromwich Albion manager Carlos Corberán has expressed his delight following the return of Nigerian forward Josh Maja, who netted the decisive goal in their 1-0 victory over Norwich City on Wednesday evening.

Maja, who has been sidelined for a lengthy period due to injury, made his presence felt at The Hawthorns as he struck the only goal of the encounter to hand the Baggies all three points.

Speaking after the match, Corberán praised the striker’s resilience and patience during his recovery.

“I’m super happy for Josh Maja to score the goal. He’s worked very hard and we’ve been patient with him,” the coach told the club’s official website.

“We believed that was the right thing to do because of the time he had out, but, at the same time, we know he can affect games of football. I think that will do him the world of good and give him lots of confidence.”

The victory over Norwich strengthened West Brom’s push in the Championship, with Maja’s return seen as a major boost for the club’s attacking options.

The 25-year-old Super Eagles forward joined West Brom in the summer and is now expected to play a key role in their campaign as he builds match fitness and form.
