Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou expressed sympathy for Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim’s injury woes after Spurs edged out the Red Devils 1-0 on Sunday.

In a meeting of two sides struggling to meet expectations this season, James Maddison’s decisive goal lifted Spurs to 12th in the Premier League, while United dropped to 15th, deepening their concerns.

United’s problems worsened with the news that Amad Diallo and Lisandro Martinez will miss the remainder of the season.

Amorim was also without Manuel Ugarte, Christian Eriksen, Kobbie Mainoo, and Luke Shaw, forcing him to name eight teenagers on his nine-man bench for the trip to north London.

Postecoglou knows the challenge all too well, having dealt with a relentless injury crisis in his second season at Tottenham.

Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, and Dominic Solanke were again unavailable, though the returns of Maddison and goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario helped Spurs secure their first home league win since November.

“I could see today Ruben had to put a team together, players out of position, kids on the bench,” Postecoglou said. “Welcome to my world—and that’s just for one game. Now try doing that for two months, like we have.”

Injuries have plagued several Premier League teams this season, with managers across the league struggling to maintain consistency amid prolonged absences of key players.
