Super Falcons head coach, Justin Madugu, has acknowledged the challenge that awaits Nigeria when they face South Africa in the semi-finals of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The highly anticipated clash between the nine-time champions and the defending title holders is scheduled to take place on Tuesday in Casablanca.
Speaking during a press conference, Madugu expressed confidence in the team’s preparation and commitment.
“Our preparations have gone well. The girls are focused, determined, in top shape, and fully ready for the task ahead,” he stated.
While some have pointed to Nigeria’s strong fan support in Morocco as an advantage, Madugu emphasized that effort on the pitch will be the deciding factor.
“Playing away or having support doesn’t count as much in football anymore. What really matters is how hard you work. You must earn your result through performance,” he added.
