Super Falcons coach Justin Madugu has expressed optimism about the team’s chances at the 2024 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) set to kick off this weekend in Morocco, but admits there is still room for improvement across all departments.
Speaking ahead of Nigeria’s opening game against Tunisia on July 6, Madugu believes the recent friendly win over Ghana was a timely boost for the squad and will help them start the tournament strongly.
“The match gave us the chance to have the entire squad together, assess our strengths, and work on team cohesion, coordination, and different combinations,” Madugu explained.
“It’s always a work in progress, but we remain focused on our clear and achievable goal—Mission X. The girls are ready, they’re hungry for success, and the team spirit is very high. We are looking forward to our first game against Tunisia on Sunday. We will keep addressing our weak points, and I’m confident we’ll be ready when the time comes.”
The victory over Ghana also extended Madugu’s impressive unbeaten run as Super Falcons head coach.
