Algeria’s head coach, Farid Benstiti, has shared insights into his relationship with Nigerian football star Asisat Oshoala.
Benstiti revealed that he had the opportunity to work with the Super Falcons forward during their stint in China, noting that they have since developed a friendship.
Speaking ahead of Algeria’s Group B matches at the upcoming CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), Benstiti praised Nigeria’s dominance in women’s football.
“Nigeria are the benchmark,” he told CAF Online. “I had the pleasure of working with Asisat Oshoala in China. She’s a friend now.”
He went on to describe the Super Falcons as not only Africa’s best team but also among the top ten women’s national teams in the world.
The 2025 WAFCON kicks off in July, with Nigeria, Algeria, Tunisia, and Botswana competing in Group B.
