Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, has left the team’s camp ahead of the Unity Cup final in London due to personal reasons.
This departure comes just after Musa made his return to the national team for the first time since the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
After the tournament, the winger took a break from international football, and his lack of match fitness, compounded by a stop in his club career with Sivasspor, led to his absence from Nigeria’s subsequent fixtures.
Musa later signed with Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side Kano Pillars in October, where he has been a consistent performer. In his 23 appearances for the club, he netted 10 goals and contributed two assists.
Under the guidance of the Eagles’ new head coach, Musa was called up for the Unity Cup in the UK. He played a role in Nigeria’s 2-1 victory over Ghana on Wednesday, coming on as a substitute in the 62nd minute and delivering a solid performance.
However, despite Nigeria’s upcoming final against Jamaica, the former CSKA Moscow forward will not be part of the squad for the match.
