Nigeria international Ademola Lookman delivered a standout performance on Wednesday night as Atalanta cruised to a commanding 3-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt on matchday five of the UEFA Champions League.
Following a cagey and goalless first half at the Gewiss Stadium, Lookman sparked the game into life in the 60th minute when he calmly slotted home to break the deadlock, sending the home fans into wild celebrations.
Barely two minutes later, the Super Eagles forward turned creator, providing an inch-perfect assist for Ederson, who doubled Atalanta’s advantage with a fine finish.
The Italian side continued to dominate, and their pressure was eventually rewarded with a late third goal to seal all three points and round off a perfect night in Bergamo.
Thanks to the victory, Atalanta strengthened their group standing and now sit in 10th position with 10 points, boosting their hopes of progressing to the knockout stages.
