Nigeria’s Falconets claimed a slim but crucial 1-0 victory over Senegal in the first leg of the final round of the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.
The tightly contested encounter, played at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta, saw both sides battle intensely, but it was the home team that made the decisive breakthrough in the second half.
Chinaza Kindness emerged as the heroine for Nigeria, scoring the only goal of the match in the 50th minute to give the Falconets a narrow advantage heading into the return leg.
The second leg of the qualifier is scheduled to hold in Dakar, where the aggregate winner over the two legs will secure qualification for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, set to take place in Poland.
