Head coach of Nigeria’s U20 women’s team, the Falconets, Moses Aduku has set his sights firmly on securing a ticket to the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup as his side prepares for the final-round qualifier clash against Senegal.
Nigeria and Senegal will battle over two legs in the final round of the qualifiers, with the first leg scheduled to take place in Nigeria this weekend, setting the tone for what promises to be a fiercely contested encounter.
Speaking ahead of the fixture, Adukwu stressed the importance of continuity and national pride, noting that qualification for the World Cup remains a non-negotiable target for the Falconets.
“That is one important thing we have always been telling the players. It can’t be in our time that the team won’t go to the World Cup,” Adukwu said.
“That is an extra motivation for us to do the country proud. We must maintain our impressive record in the qualifiers.”
Nigeria’s Falconets are one of Africa’s most consistent sides at U20 level, with a strong history of World Cup appearances, and Adukwu is keen to preserve that legacy by ensuring qualification against a determined Senegalese team.
The outcome of the two-legged tie will determine which nation secures Africa’s coveted World Cup ticket, with the Falconets aiming to take a decisive advantage from the home leg before the return fixture in Senegal.
