Super Falcons defender Glory Ogbonna has completed a move to Israeli Women’s Premier League champions FC Kiryat Gat on a one-year contract.
The 24-year-old joins the reigning champions from Turkish powerhouse Besiktas following the expiration of her deal. A versatile and experienced defender, Ogbonna previously starred for Nigeria Women’s Football League side Edo Queens and brings valuable international experience to her new team.
Kiryat Gat, who recently secured their domestic title, will kick off their UEFA Women’s Champions League campaign on Saturday, August 2, against Turkish side Fomget, with Ogbonna in line for a potential debut.
Expressing her delight after signing, Ogbonna said: “I’m happy to be here. I can’t wait to make my debut and hopefully win trophies with this great club.”
Having represented Nigeria at major tournaments, including the FIFA Women’s World Cup and the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), Ogbonna is expected to provide a significant boost to Kiryat Gat’s defensive line.
