French Ligue 1 club LOSC Lille has reached an agreement with Ajax Amsterdam to sign Nigerian forward Chuba Akpom on loan.
Akpom made the move to Ajax two years ago after a successful spell with Middlesbrough in the English Championship. However, he has struggled to secure consistent playing time at the Dutch side.
Several clubs, including Sunderland, expressed interest in the Nigerian striker during the winter transfer window.
Reports from France now confirm that Lille has successfully secured Akpom on loan for the remainder of the season.
Should the deal be finalized, Akpom will become the fourth Nigerian to play for Lille, joining the ranks of Vincent Enyeama, Osaze Odemwingie, and Victor Osimhen.
