Nottingham Forest Women have announced the signing of Nigerian international forward Joy Omewa from Danish side Fortuna Hjørring.

The 23-year-old attacker joins the Reds on a permanent deal that will keep her at the City Ground until the end of the 2025/26 season, adding significant firepower to Forest’s attacking options.

Omewa began her football journey in Nigeria with Confluence Queens before moving to Europe in April 2021, when she signed for Danish club Boldklubben af 1893 (B.93). She made an immediate impact at B.93, scoring three goals in nine appearances.

Her performances earned her a move to Danish giants Fortuna Hjørring in November 2021, where she enjoyed a highly successful five-year spell.

During her time at the club, Omewa scored over 50 goals, establishing herself as one of the most prolific forwards in the Kvindeligaen.

She also played a key role in Fortuna Hjørring’s domestic success, winning the Danish Women’s Cup twice and helping the club secure the Kvindeligaen league title in the 2024/25 season.

Omewa’s arrival is seen as a major boost for Nottingham Forest Women as the club continues to strengthen its squad ahead of the new campaign, while the Nigerian forward will be hoping to make an immediate impact in English football.
