Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun has completed a move to Cypriot side Aris Limassol on a one-year deal, following the expiration of his contract.
Born in Berlin, Balogun began his football journey with Hertha BSC before moving to Hannover 96, where he made his Bundesliga debut during the 2008–09 season. He later joined Werder Bremen in 2010, featuring in both the Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga.
From 2012 to 2014, he played for Fortuna Düsseldorf, followed by a one-season stint at Darmstadt. Between 2015 and 2018, Balogun represented Mainz 05 in the German top flight, amassing 75 appearances and scoring once.
The Nigerian international then ventured to England, signing with Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion. He later joined Scottish giants Rangers, where he played from 2020 to 2022 before moving to Queens Park Rangers in the English Championship. He rejoined Rangers in 2023 and went on to make a total of 114 appearances for the club, winning the league title, the Scottish Cup, and the League Cup.
Aris Limassol confirmed Balogun’s signing on Friday afternoon.
