Nigerian forward Tolu Arokodare has etched his name in KRC Genk’s history books after sealing a sensational move to Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers for a reported fee of £27 million.

The deal not only makes Arokodare Genk’s most expensive outgoing transfer but also marks one of the biggest moves involving a Nigerian striker in recent years.

The 23-year-old joined Genk from French side Amiens in January 2023 and quickly established himself as one of the Belgian Pro League’s most lethal strikers.

His combination of height, strength, and finishing ability saw him become a nightmare for defenders, leading to double-digit goals last season and attracting attention from top European clubs.

Wolves, who have been in the market for a reliable centre-forward, identified Arokodare as a long-term solution.

Negotiations intensified over the past weeks, and both clubs finally reached an agreement that sees Genk receive a club-record fee.

Genk sporting director Dimitri de Condé praised the striker for his contribution to the club and admitted that his departure, though painful, was inevitable given his quality and ambition.

Arokodare will now link up with Wolves ahead of the new Premier League campaign, where fans are eager to see if the Nigerian striker can replicate his Belgian form in England.
